I live in the Sierra Nevada foothills, home of the “gold rush” and yes the common knowledge is that over 80% of the gold is as of of yet still buried waiting to be found.Many gold claims have recently been re-opened since the price of gold went up. Late summer when the rivers are low is the best time to pan for gold because the center low points of the rivers are more exposed. Many folks are trying it out for the first time and there a lot of people even right now who are out there digging it up. Not getting rich but many of them make enough to support their hobby. Which is exactly how it should be treated. I know folks who have quit carriers and left family because they found a little color and thought they were going to strike it rich. Evil thing …that gold.

What are my chances at these colleges?

I live in Connecticut and go to a good public high school that earns a silver medal in the state consistently, my GPA going into junior year was 2.93 but is probably going to be right around 3.0 if not higher. I just took the SAT’s and scored a 1620/2400 with a 560 on critical reading, 510 on writing, and a 550 in math. I am the coordinator for junior umpiring for the little league program in my town, played a sport for three years, and work at an after school program watching elementary school kids. I am going to go to school for criminal justice and will be applying to SUNY Albany, SUNY Oneonta, and Western Connecticut State University. My question is what are my chances of getting into these three schools.

For SUNY Albany you are about average as far at your SATs. They don’t look at the writing section. They accept 47% of students who apply. 21% of student who are accepted have a GPA of 3.0-3.24 but only 11% had what your GPA is as of junior year. You have decent chances on getting in here but it depends on your major and if you really did bring your GPA up.

With Oneonta they accpet 39% of those who apply and 27% had between a 3.0-3.25 however only 2% had below a 3.0. Their average SAT scores are a little higher than the previous college but you still fall into their range. You have a chance of getting in here but much more of a chance of getting into the previous one.

Western CT is your best bet. You are almost guaranteed to get accepted here. 19% of people who go here had a high school GPA of a 3.0-3.25 but 57% had under a 3.0. They accept 62% of applicants. You are above their average SAT scores in both math and reading but you have an average score for writing. You will almost definately be accepted here.

How to buy gold in Dubai? Help!?

1. ‘m travelling via Dubai (9 hrs). If I get transit visa, then where should I go to buy gold safely?
2. If I don’t, in which shop can I buy gold in the Intl airport? (maybe a few pieces of jwelery and not much)
3. How to bargain outside?
4. What is the average price in Dhms that I should look for? (Tell me, if it is above “this much” on that day don’t buy)
5. Is gold jewelery from dubai good or breakable?
6. Should I look for bullions instead of jewelry pieces?

First get a transit visa. If flying with Emirates, a transit visa will be provided by the Airline. Otherwise you have to approach the Marhaba Service to obtain a 96 hrs. visa.

1. You can take a cab and visit the gold souq where you can bargain.
2. You can shop in any jewelery shop at the Airport. No bargain there, but you can ask for a “special discount”.
3. Example: seller says Dhs 1.000, you say 700, then the seller will tell you a price lower than Dhs 1.000 and you will raise your offer, and so on until you’ll meet on a price acceptable for both of you. The seller always will make his profit, so don’t worry. Most important: never let the seller know how bad you would like an item. Act like you would leave the shop and the seller may come after you with a better offer.
4. There is no average price. Sellers will go by the actual gold price of the day. You can check the actual price at the business part of the daily.
5. You’ll get what you pay for.
6. If buying gold as an investment, then yes.
7. By buying a gold barren, you pay the actual price + commission. By buying jeweleries, you also pay the price of i.e. stones, ornaments etc.

I got a jelly bean dispenser, can I put other candies into it besides jelly beans?

I got one of those things that you put change into and it gives you jelly beans. I’m not a huge fan of jelly beans so I was wondering if I could put other candies into it like m&ms or mike and ikes.
